Sam Heughan Gets Personal In New Interview

August 5, 2014 By Krystal Van Eyk Leave a Comment

OutlanderSDCCPanel34

In a great new interview with the Reading Eagle, actor Sam Heughan discusses his feelings on fame, family, and how he first got the acting bug.  The article is a must-read for fans of Sam, since it’s one of the more personal interviews we’ve seen so far with the Outlander actor (and we kind of like him even more now, if that’s possible).  You can read the full article over at the Reading Eagle.

“I had four people in my class at school. You don’t have many friends because there’s just no one there in the borders of Scotland. So you have to make up stories. I think I still do.”

Buzzfeed Calls “Outlander” the Feminist “Game of Thrones”

August 5, 2014 By Krystal Van Eyk Leave a Comment

ClaireBook

In a fantastic new article, Buzzfeed’s Anne Helen Petersen presents Outlander as the feminist version of Game of Thrones, and calls out all of the reasons that men should be watching the show, too.

When asked whether Outlander is a feminist text, Gabaldon smartly explained that it depends on one’s definition of feminism: “[Outlander] is about a woman, who is quite confident in who she is as a woman, and that’s one definition of feminist — you take yourself at your own worth, and you demand that others take you at your own estimation.” And the guiding love story of the text is, in many ways, the story of a man becoming a feminist as well: Surrounded by patriarchy, Jamie (Sam Heughan) is nevertheless forced to “take [Claire] at her own estimation”; when they fall in love, it’s because both realize themselves as the other’s equal.

You can read the full article over on Buzzfeed.com.
